Biography
I’m Luke Gibson, an Information Science Major, Business Analytics Minor at the University of Maryland College Park, in the Design Cultures & Creativity Honors Program. I’ve created the Guided Creation Process because I’ve been interested in Role Playing Games for a long time, loving the creative expression, stories, and worlds that it conveys. I enjoy creative writing and game design, which is how this project came to be. I’ve always found the medium to not be beginner friendly, so I decided to remedy one of the major issues with that, creating a campaign setting. Hope you enjoy it!
Design Philosophy
The idea behind the Guided Creation Process sprouted from wanting to fix issues that new players have with tabletop Role-Playing Games, specifically Game Masters. One of the biggest issues I have come across is Game Masters not knowing where to start when it comes to actually creating an Adventure or Campaign, no matter the system. Realizing I could fix this problem, I designed the Guided Creation process as to be a beginner friendly method of creating a Campaign Setting. It takes the ease of use of using a pre-established campaign setting while being more time efficient, and still gives the Game Master the satisfaction of actually creating a world and story that can be theirs.
